Police admit they are concerned after a weekend of stolen car incidents across the Gold Coast, which saw at least eight people arrested, including seven teens.

In the first incident, a BMW X6 that had allegedly been stolen from Mermaid Waters, crashed into a blue Toyota RAV4 and silver Toyota Hilux in the northbound lanes of the M1 at Coomera on Saturday night.

An 82-year-old man who was behind the wheel of the RAV4 was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The BMW was tracked to Highland Park where the vehicle was dumped before the offenders got into a black BMW X5.

That vehicle was tracked to Theatre St in Oxenford where the four offenders fled on foot.

Officers tracked them down a short time later, arresting three 14-year-old boys and a 16-year-old girl.

All have been charged and spent the weekend in custody to face court on Monday.

On Sunday afternoon, a stolen Toyota Corolla was spotted on the M1 at Ormeau and tracked to Southport, where a 23-year-old male passenger was dropped off and arrested.

The vehicle was then tyre spiked on Smith St in Labrador but continued back onto the M1 before it eventually stopped where a 16-year-old boy was arrested.

He was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and dangerous use of a motor vehicle, and is in court on Monday.

On Sunday evening, a convoy of stolen vehicles was spotted travelling north on the M1 at Ormeau.

One of the vehicles was abandoned in Nerang while a second, a Porsche Macan was tracked to Arundel where its tyres were spiked.

The Porsche continued to Admiralty Drive in Surfers Paradise where a 15-year-old and a 13-year-old boy were arrested.

Both have been charged to front court on Monday.

Superintendent Michelle Piket says the spate is “unusual” and they will consider increasing patrols.

“Our crews are always conducting patrols. We had several traffic operations conducted late last week,” Superintendent Picket told the ABC.

“But certainly we will be looking at the M1 and anything further we can do.”
