If you haven’t started your Christmas shopping yet, well you’re in luck!
Major Gold Coast shopping centres are extending their trading hours from today, giving Gold Coasters more time to grab their last minute Christmas gifts.
With less than a week until the jolly man in red arrives, thousands of people are expected to flock to centres across the city to ensure they have everything they need for the special people in their lives.
Pacific Fair and Robina Town Centre are both bracing for an influx of last-minute shoppers and will open their doors at 9am today and remain open until 9pm tonight.
Kate Halpin from Pacific Fair says the extended trading hours will continue right up until Christmas Eve to give everyone a chance to shop.
“I think people forget we’re only six days away from Christmas, so this weekend will be very busy at shopping centres, particularly Pac fair,” Ms Halpin said.
“Also, people that work different shift hours, they really just need some more time to be able to shop in their own hours”.
For those hoping to avoid the crowds as much as possible, Ms Halpin suggests heading in first thing in the morning.
“I would recommend coming in early, so be there right on opening and try and get out of there by 11am or come back later in the afternoon.
“It settles down from 3pm and then you can take your time all the way up until 9pm on some nights”.
And for those who work the best under pressure, both major centres will be trading until MIDNIGHT on Tuesday, December 23.
“It’s always a really fun one!” Ms Halpin said.
“A lot of people like shopping then because it’s a very calm and peaceful time and you can get everything done in one hit”.
“We just hope that everyone remains patient because everyone is working hard.
“We’ve got extra customer service staff on hand, but please be kind to the retailers. They’re doing a lot of hours at this time of year.”
