A man has been arrested after a stolen hearse was involved in a dramatic crash at Parkwood in the early hours of this morning.

Police say a 38-year-old man broke into a funeral business on Tonga Place around 4.50am, making off in the hearse before slamming into two vehicles just ten minutes later.

The chaotic smash unfolded at the intersection of Olsen Avenue, Musgrave Avenue and Napper Road.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene, where an innocent male driver was found trapped inside his vehicle.

Firefighters worked to free him, while the female driver of the second car miraculously escaped without injury.

Officers swarmed the scene, dragging the alleged suspect from the stolen hearse and placing him under arrest before he was taken to hospital under guard.

Police are now piecing together the bizarre chain of events and are appealing for anyone with dashcam vision from the area to come forward.
