A man has escaped being mauled by a shark while surfing off the Tweed.
A shark took a huge chunk out of the surfers board at Norries Head beach at Cabarita at around 8.30am today.
The surfer got back to shore and wasn’t injured.
It’s understood drones have spotted a great white shark in the area.
All beaches in the Tweed Shire have been closed for 24 hours.
