Two young boys have been charged after allegedly taking a stolen vehicle on a wild joyride across the Gold Coast.

The chaos began in Pimpama just before 9.30am on Wednesday, when police were called to a business car park on Nexus Drive following reports juveniles were allegedly attempting to break into vehicles.

They fled in a stolen 2020 Ford Ranger dual-cab ute, damaging a number of vehicles in the process.

Officers tracked the stolen vehicle south through various suburbs before NSW Police managed to successfully deploy tyre spikes on the M1 just before 11.30am.

The damaged vehicle then travelled back into Queensland, where a 13-year-old Bogangar boy and 14-year-old Robina boy were arrested on Golden Four Drive at Bilinga.

The pair have since been charged with a string of offences including two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, driving of a motor vehicle without a licence and enter dwelling and commit.

Both have been refused police bail to front Southport Childrens Court today.
