A teenage boy is due to front court today charged over an alleged destructive joyride in a stolen construction drum roller on the Gold Coast.

The 17-year-old is accused of stealing the 11-tonne machine from a construction site in Coomera around 1.40am on Saturday.

He’s then accused of driving the vehicle through a fence before taking it down a number of suburban streets where he allegedly crashed into a number of parked cars.

It eventually came to a stop in bushland where the teen was arrested.

He’s since been charged with one count each of enter premises and commit indictable offence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle and driving while over the no alcohol limit.

The teen is due to appear in Southport Children’s Court today.
