A teenage boy has died following another tragic e-bike crash on the Gold Coast.
The 15-year-old was travelling along Broadbeach Road in Broadbeach on a SurRon Ultra Bee Electric Dirt Bike around 3.00am on Saturday when he lost control.
According to police, the boy is believed to have hit a raised pedestrian crossing before the bike collided with two light poles.
The teen suffered critical injuries and sadly died at the scene.
It’s the second fatal e-bike crash on the Gold Coast in a matter of weeks, triggering calls for the State Government to act before Christmas.
Mayor Tom Tate, who last month wrote to the Premier calling for change, is now urging the Government to fast track their response to an e-bike inquiry, with the findings not due until March.
Police say investigations into the fatal crash are ongoing.
