Two teenagers have suffered serious injuries after being hit by an alleged hoon driver following a car-meet on the northern Gold Coast.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Beattie Road and Waterway Drive in Coomera just before 9am on Sunday following reports of the incident.

According to police, “initial investigations indicate a dark BMW was exiting a car meet when it lost control and struck a group who were sitting on a barrier”.

An 18-year-old man suffered a “significant leg injury” and was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

While another male in his late teens also suffered a leg injury but was taken to hospital stable.

“Officers spoke with the driver, a 21-year-old man, at the scene who continues to assist police with their enquiries,” A Queensland Police spokesperson said.

Detectives from the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing to investigate.
