Police have released bodycam footage of the moment they found a massive knife inside a teenage boy’s backpack on Halloween.

Officers from the Railway Squad were conducting a routine wanding operation at a Shailer Park transport hub at around 4pm on 31 October, when a boy was stopped and subjected to a metal detection scan.

The scan sounded the alarm of metal within his bag, with police allegedly finding a large knife.

The officer involved was audibly shocked by the discovery.

“What’ve you got this for man? This is crazy,” he asks the boy.

“That’s crazy, man. So you’re under the arrest for possesion of quite a large sword, alright”.

The 17-year-old Meadowbrook boy was arrested and later charged with one count of possession of a knife in a public place.

“Wanding operations are an effective deterrent and detection tool, allowing police to remove dangerous items from public transport hubs and ensure passengers feel safe while travelling,

“The message to young people is clear – carrying a knife is not only illegal, but also dangerous and unnecessary. If you choose to carry a weapon, you can expect to be caught.”
