Gold Coast Titans star AJ Brimson has been named to represent England in the upcoming Ashes series.

The 27-year-old switched his international alliance to England earlier this year.

Brimson’s told NRL.com he wants to represent his mother’s heritage.

“I always thought it would be great if I could get the chance to represent both sides of the family because I am very proud of my English heritage as well,” Brimson says.

“It is something I’ve wanted to do for a while, play for England, so I will be putting my hand up to try to play for them this year and going forward,

“My whole mum’s side of the family is in England. We used to go there as kids for family holidays … to Plymouth. (Mum) is from south London and she has got some family there which is good.”

Five other NRL players have been named in the squad, including Dolphins centre Herbie Farnworth, Knights player Dom Young, Wests Tigers-bound secondrower Kai Pearce-Paul, Cowboys backrower John Bateman, and Raiders forward Morgan Smithies.
