A young tourist has been bashed and robbed of his phone while walking through Surfers Paradise.
The 19-year-old was approached by three males on the Esplanade near the Soul building just after 1am on Saturday.
The trio demanded the man’s phone, but he refused.
The group is then accused of punching the tourist in the head.
“Fortunately, he wasn’t seriously injured. His phone was taken,” Acting Chief Superintendent Peter Miles told the ABC.
“Police were able to locate the man and two boys and take them into custody.”
An 18-year-old male and a 15-year-old boy have since been charged, while a second 15-year-old boy is still assisting Police with inquiries.
Police say the group is all from Logan and is well-known to them.
The alleged victim was not seriously injured.
“Fortunately, he is ok, stunned, probably quite taken aback with the level of violence,” Acting Chief Superintendent Miles said.
“Three on one (is) a pretty cowardly act in my opinion.”
