A tourist has died after getting caught in a rip at a popular Gold Coast beach over the weekend.
Emergency crews were called to Palm Beach around 4.10pm on Saturday following reports a group of swimmers had been swept out to sea near Twenty First Avenue.
It’s understood three swimmers were safely rescued from the water.
A man in his 20s was also brought to shore, but despite desperate efforts by paramedics, he could not be saved.
