Three people have been charged over a violent car robbery on the Gold Coast that’s left a woman in a critical condition in hospital.
The 54-year-old was struck by her own Mercedes as she was attempting to stop thieves from stealing it while reportedly unloading groceries at a home on Morala Avenue in Runaway Bay on Saturday.
Police monitored the stolen vehicle as it travelled on the M1 at Pimpama where two teenagers and a woman were taken into custody near Yatala around 4.30pm.
The victim was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital where she remains undergoing treatment.
The alleged offenders, a 16-year-old Southport boy, 18-year-old Pimpama man and 24-year-old woman have since been charged with a string of offences including grievous bodily harm, robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and enter dwelling and commit.
All are due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.
Police are appealing for anyone with relevant information, CCTV or dashcam vision is urged to come forward.
