Police have charged a man in relation to the shooting death of another man in Beenleigh.
A 35-year-old Bahrs Scrub man was allegedly shot in the chest at Hugh Muntz Park at around 10.40pm on Tuesday night.
The man was declared deceased at the scene a short time later.
Inquiries established that a white Kia Stonic left the scene shortly after the shooting.
That Kia had allegedly been stolen from an address in Oxenford back on November 24.
Officers spotted the vehicle on Kumbari Avenue in Labrador a few hours after the shooting and tracked it before deploying a tyre deflation device on the Jabiru Island Bridge.
The Kia eventually came to a stop at the intersection of Helensvale Rd and Hope Island Rd in Hope Island before the driver fled into nearby bushland.
A search of the area by dog squad officers located a firearm in a bag before the man was found hiding nearby.
Ammunition was allegedly located during a search of the man’s clothing.
The 22-year-old Beenleigh man has since been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of weapon (firearm), possessing explosives (ammunition) and receiving tainted property.
He is due to front Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.
Investigations into the man’s death are continuing.
