Three teens have been charged after allegedly breaking into a home in Surfers Paradise before stealing a luxury car and taking it on a joyride across the Gold Coast.
The group is accused of gaining entry in the home on Sunset Boulevard around 4.15am on Tuesday, stealing the keys to a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG.
Police were able to track the vehicle’s movements thanks to technology installed in the car, with the Mercedes travelling to Helensvale before returning south to Main Beach and back to Surfers Paradise.
That same technology was used to disable the car on Riverview Terrace in Surfers Paradise where Police were waiting to pounce.
Three teenagers were taken into custody without incident, with officers allegedly uncovering a black mask and a knife inside the vehicle.
A 15-year-old Coomera boy, a 16-year-old Mermaid Beach boy, and a 17-year-old Nerang boy have each been charged with one count of enter dwelling and commit, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and receiving tainted property.
They were due to appear in court on Tuesday.
Investigations are continuing.
