She remains in hospital in a critical condition.
The 16-year-old Upper Coomera boy has been charged with one count each of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, armed robbery and deprivation of liberty.
He is due to appear at Southport Children’s Court tomorrow.
EARLIER @ 2.30PM| A 16-year-old boy is being questioned by police after a female Uber driver was stabbed and left for dead at a Gold Coast shopping centre.
The 32-year-old driver was found semi-conscious in her car by a security guard at Coomera Westfield around 1.30am on Wednesday.
She was later rushed to hospital in a critical condition with wounds to her neck, back and face.
Police say investigations led them to a 16-year-old boy at a Coomera address and he is now assisting with investigations.
Earlier on Wednesday, Detective Inspector Paul Fletcher said the offender is believed to have been a rideshare customer.
“We believe that the offender has booked a ride share with that female and has gone from the Hope Island area to the Coomera area as part of that rideshare,” he said.
He added that there didn’t appear to be any fight that lead-up to the incident.
“Our investigations so far show there wasn’t any type of disagreement about the rideshare,” he said.
It appears the stabbing was a completely random attack.
“At this point in time it’s leading that way but we’re still following up on that,” Det. Insp. Fletcher said.
“Our inquiries so far show they had no connection but that’s ongoing.”
