A man who was so drunk his alcohol level couldn’t be properly measured has been busted allegedly trying to break into a Gold Coast chemist.

Police were called to the Burleigh pharmacy on the weekend, interrupting the man as he tried to gain entry into the business.

Officers say the man appeared to have “no idea” what he was doing.

“They put him on the alcometer just to see how drunk he was. Those things go to about 0.395 and it stopped,” Acting Chief Superintendent Peter Miles said.

“He made it go all the way to the end, and I reckon it would have kept going, so he had had a massive drink.”

The man was arrested and taken back to the watchhouse, but it was a couple of hours before Police could even speak to him.

He’s since been charged over the attempted break and enter and given an adult caution.
