Pop sensation Delta Goodrem will fly the flag for Australia at this year’s Eurovision competition in Vienna.

The Aussie sweetheart will take to the stage in May, in what will be the 70th year of the song contest.

Having previously written songs for Eurovision winner Celine Dion and worked alongside Olivia Newton-John, Goodrem says she can’t wait to take her place on the Eurovision stage herself.

“I’m so honoured to represent Australia on one of the biggest and most iconic music stages in the world at Eurovision!” Goodrem said.

“As a singer-songwriter, music has been my lifelong passion.

“I’ve always loved the creativity, individuality, and joy Eurovision brings, connecting and uniting people across the globe through music; the universal language.

“I can’t wait to arrive in Vienna and make Australia proud.”

Goodrem will perform her new song Eclipse, which she co-wrote with Ferras Alqaisi, Jonas Myrin and Michael Fatkin.

According to the description, the song signals a “bold creative evolution which delivers both emotional intimacy and arena-scale impact, culminating in a triumphant final chorus crafted to ignite audiences across the arena and around the world”.
