All eyes will be on Australia’s immigration minister this morning following the Novak Djokovic decision, as the world number one breaks his silence on social media.
The 34-year-old won his court bid to have the cancellation reversed late yesterday and was freed from his detention accommodation in Melbourne last night.
Fans crowded the streets around the lawyer’s office banging on a car that was exiting the venue thinking it was Novak.
Police used pepper spray to try and disperse the crowd.
Late last night, Djokovic posted a photo of him and his team on Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne.
“I’m pleased and grateful that the Judge overturned my visa cancellation,” the Twitter caption reads.
“Despite all that has happened, I want to stay and try to compete @AustralianOpen
“I remain focused on that.
“I flew here to play at one of the most important events we have in front of the amazing fans,” the post says.
“For now I cannot say more but THANK YOU all for standing with me through all this and encouraging me to stay strong,” he continues in the comments.

Meantime, back in Serbia, the World Number One’s mother, father and brother have spoken to the local media.
His brother says the past few days have been very difficult for their family.
“It’s been a battle for all of us, it’s not just about Novak obviously.
“We’ve been defending him in every possible way we could, because we know that he’s a truthful and rightful guy and he would never do anything to cross any federal or state law anywhere in the world,” his brother said.
While the decision to cancel his Visa has been overturned, the immigration minister still has the power to boot him from the country and ban him from re-entering for three years.
The Minister didn’t make a decision on his renewed Visa status last night, with all eyes to be on him and federal government this morning.
