Two people have been charged after allegedly conning an 81-year-old woman out of more than $100,000.

The 43-year-old woman and 48-year-old man are also accused of forcing the elderly woman out of her Sydney unit so that they could collect rent on the property.

They were arrested this week after NSW Police launched Strike Force Artal to investigate the alleged fraud.

Police allege the pair, who are known to the elderly woman, stole jewellery, cash, and her bank cards before fraudulently using the banks cards to spend more than $100,000 on clothes, food, and other items.

Police also allege the couple coerced the victim out of her Mascot unit and illegally collected rent on it.

The woman has been charged with two counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception and will front Bankstown Local Court on Thursday 30 November.

The man has been charged with fraudulently render false expense account and dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception and was due in Bankstown Local Court on Tuesday.
