A man has been charged following a horror crash in northern NSW, which claimed the life of another man and seriously injured a woman.

Emergency services were called to Bingara Road at Bundarra, about 45km south of Inverell, around 5pm on Saturday following reports of a horror two-car smash.

Upon arrival, they found a Mazda BT-50 ute and Toyota Hilux ute had collided.

The driver of the Toyota, a 27-year-old man, and his 28-year-old female passenger were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, however, the man died at the scene.

The woman was rushed to Tamworth Base Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The driver of the Mazda, a 27-year-old man, and two passengers were treated for minor injuries and taken to Bingara Hospital in stable conditions.

Following ongoing investigations, police arrested a 27-year-old man at Armidale Police Station on Sunday.

He has since been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death. with his licence also suspended.

The man is due to appear before Armidale Local Court on Monday 13 November.
