A man and 14-year-old boy have been charged after a child was killed when a gun accidentally fired in NSW.

Emergency services were called to a rural property at Windellama in the state’s south around 11.20am on Sunday following reports of a shooting.

On arrival, officers were told a 9-year-old boy had been injured after the “unintentional discharge” of a firearm.

The child was treated by paramedics for serious neck injuries, however, despite their attempts, he died at the scene.

Police immediately established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, a 14-year-old boy and a 33-year-old man were arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station.

The 14-year-old boy was charged with possess unauthorised firearm and granted conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on Thursday 17 April.

The 33-year-old man was charged with allow unauthorised person to possess firearm and not keep firearm safely and will appear before Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday 14 May.
