A TV personality and his family have escaped a ferocious blaze that has destroyed their Brisbane home.
Mike Goldman, best known for his voiceover work on Big Brother, was woken up around 4am on Friday by a smoke alarm in his Bulimba home.
Goldman says he and his partner grabbed their one-year-old son before fleeing the property.
“I got Bianca and Jagger up and just ran outside. The dog hadn’t followed me and I’ve run back in looking for the dog and, oh man, it was probably the scariest ten minutes of my life,” Goldman said.
“We didn’t have our phones so we needed someone else to call the fire brigade so we’re banging on doors to wake people up in case the fire spread to the next house.
“But it didn’t and the fire brigade put it out and everything’s ok but it was a spectacle that’s for sure.”

Seven fire crews arrived a short time later, saving the family dog before bringing the inferno under control.
But not before the home was extensively damaged.
Fire investigators are now looking into the cause with reports an exploding fuse box may have started the blaze.
