A child has died after a house was engulfed in fire in Brisbane’s north.

Neighbours report hearing an explosion coming from the Clayfield home just before 4am before it erupted in flames.

At least six fire crews rushed to the scene but were unable to get inside the home due to the ferocity of the blaze.

A man, woman and a young girl managed to escape the inferno.

The body of a second child was discovered inside the home once the blaze was extinguished.

It’s believed the child is a six-year-old boy.

The man, woman and girl were treated on the scene by paramedics for minor injuries but did not need to be taken to hospital.
