A mother has been charged with murdering three of her children in a horror house fire in Toowoomba.

Ellousia Brighton, 36, is facing three counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder and one count of arson following the May 7 inferno.

Emergency crews were called to Merritt Street in Harristown around 12.30am last Wednesday, following reports of a massive house fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the home engulfed in flames and desperately worked to extinguish the blaze.

The body believed to be of a nine-year-old boy was found inside the house, while two girls aged four and seven later died in hospital from critical injuries suffered in the fire.

Brighton, her 34-year-old partner, an 18-year-old man and an 11-year-old boy managed to escape the blaze.

The 34-year-old underwent surgery for serious injuries to his arm, while the 18-year-old and 11-year-old boy were treated for minor injuries.

Ms Brighton’s matter was briefly mentioned at Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon, where it was adjourned to Friday.

The 36-year-old woman remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Police have confirmed they are not looking for anyone else in connection to the incident.

Investigations remain ongoing.
