Two young girls have died from critical injuries suffered in a house fire in North Queensland.

The pair passed away in hospital on Thursday, just days after they were rescued from the fire at Bushland Beach in Townsville on 1 February.

Two teenage boys were able to escape the fire, while emergency crews pulled the two-year-old girl and a 13-year-old girl from the house.

Both girls were initially rushed to hospital in critical conditions, however sadly passed away from their injuries on Thursday.

Investigations into the circumstances of the fire are ongoing.

Police say it continues to be treated as non-suspicious.

Officers are continuing to appeal for anyone who may have relevant information that could assist to come forward.
