A suspicious house fire in Toowoomba has now claimed the lives of another two children.
The inferno erupted at a home at Harristown around 12.30am on Wednesday, with heroic neighbours smashing windows to get the family out.
Sadly, a nine-year-old boy could not be rescued, with his body discovered inside the property by responding firefighters.
A 4-year-old girl and 7-year-old girl were rushed to Queensland Children’s Hospital with significant burns, however, police have confirmed both children tragically passed away overnight.
A 36-year-old woman remains in a critical condition under police guard in hospital.
While a 34-year-old man, an 18-year-old man and an 11-year-old boy managed to escape the blaze.
The house remains a crime scene this morning and is currently being forensically examined as part of Operation Xray Paxton with assistance from the Homicide Investigation Unit.
Police are continuing to treat the fire as suspicious, but say they are not looking for anyone else in connection to the incident.
