The Gold Coast Titans have suffered an injury blow just weeks into pre-season, with one of their stars going down at training.

David Fifita will undergo surgery today after suffering a “partial tear” to his pectoral muscle.

The club confirmed the star forward sustained the injury at training on Monday.

It’s unclear exactly how long the 23-year-old will be out for, with the recovery time for partial tears varying between 10-14 weeks.

With Round One of the 2024 season kicking off in 13 weeks, there is hope Fifita will be good to go for the Gold Coast’s first game against the Dragons at Cbus.

“He’ll complete his rehab over the coming weeks, with the aim of making his return for the start of the 2024 season,” the club said in a statement.

It’s another blow for the Queensland Origin star, who already underwent surgery on his knee in the off-season.
