An elderly woman has died following a shocking crash in the Tweed.
Emergency services were called to Tumbulgum Rd in Murwillumbah around 8.40am on Tuesday after a Subaru Forester collided with a Toyota Camry.
An 83-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Toyota suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota, a 63-year-old man, and the 18-year-old male driver of the Subaru were transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in serious conditions.
A crime scene was established with the Far North Crash Investigation Unit examining the scene.
Investigations into the accident are continuing.
A report will now be prepared for the Coroner.
