Two teenagers have been charged with a string of shoplifting offences in the Tweed Heads area.
It comes after police launched operation FURITTUS to address anti-social behaviour and shoplifting offences occurring within local shopping centres, public spaces and public transport hubs in the area.
Ongoing investigations led to a search warrant being executed at a home on Cambridge Court in Kingscliff on Wednesday.
During a search of the property, police allegedly located and seized numerous clothing items alleged to be linked to several shoplifting offences.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested at the home and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with twenty-two shoplifting offences.
He was given conditional bail to appear at Tweed Heads Children’s Court on Wednesday 20 August.
A 17-year-old girl was also arrested at the home. She was charged with six shoplifting offences and issued a Future Court Attendance Notice to appear before a children’s court on the same date.
Detective Inspector Matt Zimmer said police are committed to holding those who break the law to account.
“This operation reinforces our commitment to maintaining a strong presence in the community by disrupting individuals who engage in criminal activity and holding them accountable for their actions,” Detective Zimmer said.
Investigations under Operation FURITTUS are ongoing.
