It may still be seven months away, but the starting gun has officially been fired for the upcoming Queensland State Election.

The LNP has released its first campaign ad on social media and television overnight, unveiling the party’s proposed “Making Queensland Safer Laws”.

In the ad, Opposition Leader David Crisafulli can be seen spruiking his party’s plan to crack down on crime across the state.

“I grew up in North Queensland where we used to leave the door unlocked,” Mr Crisafulli says in the video.

“I was married here, my daughters were born here, we felt safe.

“But that’s changed right across Queensland… Break-ins, stolen cars, teens are running riot through our homes, our businesses, our lives.

“They’ve stolen the Queensland we love and the Premier says not much can be done.

“But that’s not the Queensland way. It wasn’t like that before, and it doesn’t have to be like that now.”

The State Opposition has declared the ‘Making Queensland Safer Laws’ will be the first piece of legislation implemented by the party if it’s elected in October, as the battle over youth crime heats up.
