A teenage boy has been flown to hospital on the Gold Coast following a terrifying shark attack at a popular beach in northern NSW.
The 16-year-old was swimming off Cabarita Beach around 3.45pm on Sunday when he was bitten on the arm and leg.
Bystanders rushed to the boy’s aid, using a surfboard as a stretcher to carry him safely to shore.
The teen was then treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before he was flown to the Gold Coast University Hospital by the rescue helicopter.
He remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital this morning, where he’s continuing to undergo treatment.
It’s not known at this stage what kind of shark attacked the boy.
