A Gold Coast woman has been charged over a heartless fake pregnancy scam.

Police allege the 25-year-old woman befriended a 37-year-old Kingaroy man and a 31-year-old Tara man through social media between January and March this year before entering into brief relationships with both.

According to investigators, she then began harassing the men with numerous messages falsely claiming she was pregnant and seeking money for medical expenses.

Police say the woman went further by sending fake ultrasound images and fabricated medical documents, months later alleging she had given birth and continuing to demand money for supposed medical costs.

The Tugun woman has been charged with 16 offences including five counts of fraud, four counts each of forgery and uttering, and single counts of stalking, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing a utensil.

She was remanded in custody and is due to reappear in the Southport Magistrates Court on 19 September.

Detectives believe there may be other victims who have been contacted by the woman through social media, particularly across the Gold Coast region, and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
