Sydney Roosters superstar James Tedesco has delivered one of the most dominant seasons in NRL history, storming to a record-breaking Dally M Medal victory.

In a glittering ceremony at Royal Randwick, the 32-year-old polled 67 points, blowing away a star-studded field to claim the game’s highest individual honour for a second time.

Tedesco’s incredible tally saw him finish 22 points clear of Penrith playmaker Nathan Cleary, marking the biggest winning margin in Dally M history.

The Roosters veteran pushed aside criticism from many who had written him off as a player to steer his side’s charge up the ladder this season.

“It’s a huge honour,” Tedesco said.

“To be recognised like this, especially with the level of talent in the game right now, is really humbling.

“I probably had a lot of critics and doubters in the last couple of years so to be back on this stage winning this medal is a proud achievement for myself”.

Brisbane enforcer Payne Haas and emerging Dolphins playmaker Isaiya Katoa shared third place with 44 points apiece.

Just behind them were Sharks halfback Blayke Brailey and Cowboys star Tom Dearden on 42 points, rounding out the top six.

While Brisbane fullback Tamika Upton took out the women’s top gong, narrowly beating Broncos teammate Julia Robinson by three points.

The award makes her the first female to win the prestigious medal twice.
