Dozens of firefighters are battling a large blaze that’s ripped through a storage business in Southport.

Emergency crews were called to Olympic Circuit just after 4am, near the corner of Queen Street and Wardoo Street.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesperson says “multiple storage sheds are well involved and heavy smoke is issuing” from the commercial building.

Six fire crews are working to extinguish the flames and stop it from spreading further.

Police are also on scene, with the roadway currently closed off to traffic.

A crime scene has been declared, but police have not yet revealed whether they’re treating the blaze as suspicious or not.

QFD has issued a smoke warning, saying there will be smoke in the area for several hours.
