Two men have been charged over a break-in at a Gold Coast home, where the occupants were forced to hide in a bathroom.

The pair is accused of entering the home on Grandview Terrace in Tallai around 5am on Friday morning.

They allegedly removed several items before stealing the cars to a silver Hyundai hatchback that was parked in the driveway.

They’re then accused of stealing the car before crashing into a nearby fence.

Police say the men then returned to the home and stole more items, including a second vehicle, a blue BMW station wagon.

Officers arrived a short time later following frantic calls from the occupants.

A 33-year-old Mudgeeraba man and a 31-year-old Ashmore man were taken into custody.
