An Ormeau man says he didn’t think twice about ditching his dinner when he realised he’d just won more than $51,000 in a game of Keno.
The lucky local scored the Keno Classic 8 Spot jackpot on Saturday, November 8, taking home a cool $51,916.70.
“I’m really happy! It was such a surreal moment” the ecstatic winner told Keno officials.
“I must’ve counted the numbers a dozen times before it sunk in. Then I just got up, dropped everything, ran to my car and burst into tears.”
“I’ve never won something like this in my life, so it’s pretty crazy. It just doesn’t feel real.”
The longtime player said he’s always used the same numbers and plans to keep them.
“It’s amazing timing right before Christmas. I’m not sure how I’ll use the prize yet, but I’ll be buying myself a Christmas present to celebrate,” he laughed.
His winning ticket was bought at Norfolk Tavern in Ormeau, where staff say they’re thrilled to share in the excitement.
“What an incredible win for our patron!” tavern spokesperson Lysandra Simmonds said.
“We’re so happy for them and hope to see more big Keno wins soon.”.
