A Chanukah event planned for the Gold Coast this evening has been cancelled in the wake of the devastating Bondi Beach terror attack.
The local Jewish community had been planning on gathering at Isle of Capri from 5pm, but police have confirmed it will no longer go ahead.
Police have also confirmed they will be ramping up patrols across the city, however they have stressed there is no specific threat to the Gold Coast.
“We will work with the Jewish community now to see what that looks like for the coming week and provide an appropriate policing response,” Acting Chief Superintendent Brett Jackson told ABC.
“We will also make sure that we organise planned patrols past any Jewish places of worship”.
LATEST @ 6.30 AM | Police confirm Bondi shooters were father and son duo
Police have confirmed they are not looking for a third gunman in the Bondi Beach terrorist attack.
NSW police commissioner Mal Lanyon has also revealed the two shooters responsible for the horrific attack are a 50-year-old father and his 24-year-old son.
The father was shot dead by police at the scene, while the son remains under police guard in hospital with critical injuries.
“The 50-year-old male is a licensed firearms holder. He has six firearms licenced to him,” Commissioner Lanyon said.
“We are satisfied that we have six firearms from the scene yesterday, but also as a result of the search warrant at the Campsie address.”
LATEST @ 6.25 AM | Authorities confirm 16 dead, another 40 injured
NSW Police have confirmed 16 people have now died and another 40 have been injured following the shocking Bondi Beach terrorist attack.
A ten-year-old girl is among those that have been killed after two men opened fire on a large crowd of people who had gathered in heart of Bondi for a Jewish celebration on Sunday night.
One of the shooters, a 50-year-old man was shot dead by police at the scene.
Authorities have confirmed this morning that the other shooter is a 24-year-old man, who remains in hospital under police guard with critical injuries.
Those who died are yet to be formally identified, however, police believe their ages range between 10 and 87-years-old.
Five people remain in critical conditions with the others remaining in serious and stable conditions.
The two police officers who were injured in the gunfire remain in serious but stable conditions.
A significant crime scene has been established closing Bondi Beach and surrounding roads, and detectives from the Joint Counter Terrorism Team have commenced an investigation into the incident.
Following initial inquiries, detectives have located and seized three firearms from the scene.

LATEST @ 5.15am December 15 | The death toll from the Bondi Beach terrorist attack has risen to 16, including one child.
Two gunmen opened fire as thousands gathered on Sunday night for a Jewish celebration.
One gunman is amongst those dead, while another is in custody and amongst the dozens of people injured.
A number of explosives were also found at the scene, but did not detonate.
Heavily armed police have raided a home in Sydney’s west overnight, believed to be one of the alleged shooters residence.
ASIO is investigating the backgrounds of the shooters, and has confirmed one of the shooters had been on their radar.
Despite the incident, there will be no change to Australia’s terror threat level.
Meantime, Queensland Police has confirmed it’s closely monitoring the situation and has reached out to leaders of the state’s Jewish community.
Police have boosted patrols around places of worship and significance to the Jewish community across Queensland.
World leaders have reacted to the shooting overnight, including King Charles who has taken to social media to say he and Queen Camilla are “appalled and saddened”.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, and the UK Prime Minister have also expressed their horror.
Donald Trump has also paid respect to the victims, labelling the shooting “terrible” and “purely anti-semitic”.

The Prime Minister has condemned the targeted attack on the Hanukkah celebration, “an attack on Jewish Australians is an attack on all Australians.”
Anthony Albanese says there is no place for hatred, violence or terrorism in the nation.

12 people have been confirmed deceased with 29 injured transported to hospitals in the area.
It is understood the attack was designed to target the Jewish community.
This has been declared a terrorist incident.
A third offender is being investigated currently.

Ten people have been confirmed dead following a shooting at Bondi Beach.
One of the shooters is amongst those dead, while a second shooter is in custody, in a critical condition.
It’s understood two gunmen opened fire from a bridge off Campbell Parade in the heart of Bondi at about 6.45pm.
A further 11 people are reported to be injured, two of which are police officers.
The shooting occurred during a Jewish community event on the beach organised for the first night of Hanukkah.
“A number of suspicious items located in the vicinity are being examined by specialist officers and an exclusion zone is in place,” a NSW Police statement reads.
“A multi-agency response is continuing,
“An extensive crime scene has been established and inquiries are now underway.There have been NO reports of any other incidents in Sydney connected to this incident.”
Footage has shown what appears to be a hero bystander take down one of the shooters, and disarm him.
It’s not clear if this man is an off-duty police officer or a member of the public.
