Police are investigating after one of the city’s most profitable road safety cameras was damaged in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Fire crews were called to the intersection of Bermuda St and Rudd St around 2am.
The combined speed and red-light camera had been pushed over, sparking an electrical fire.
The small blaze was quickly extinguished before Police took over the matter.
The camera is one of the most lucrative in Queensland for the state government.
More than 12,400 speeding fines were issued by the camera in the 2024-2025 financial year.
It had previously raised more than $3 million in revenue in 2021-2022.
