Two teenagers have now been charged after footage emerged of them causing destruction while riding electric motorbikes at a popular Palm Beach sporting complex.

Police say the brazen duo rode the rose Surron electric motorcycles onto the sporting fields off Mallawa Drive “in a manner that was distressing for members of the public” last Friday.

“It will be further alleged that one of the boys towed a shopping trolley which he flung into public equipment, including a light pole and soccer goal, damaging them”.

The boys, both aged 13, were eventually tracked down by police and dealt with under provisions of the Youth Justice Act this week.

It was in relation to five offences including unlawfully riding motorbike on public land, public nuisance, using unregistered motorbike, driving uninsured and unlicenced.

The parents of the youths were also warned regarding permitting the use of an unregistered motorcycle on the roads and the boys being unlicensed.

“These offences can carry fines of more than $600, should the youths continue to be allowed to use the devices on the road,” Gold Coast Police said.
