Machete-wielding gang targets cars in Helensvale

Residents in a quiet Helensvale street have been left shaken after being targeted by a group of armed offenders wearing balaclavas.

Police allege four unknown offenders attempted to break into cars along Lakewood Court around 11.20pm before leaving the area in what is believed to be a stolen silver Honda Civic sedan.

Investigators say the group are believed to have been armed with machetes during the late night crime spree.

Detectives are now combing through CCTV as they work to identify those responsible.

They’re appealing for anyone with information or vision that may be able to assist to come forward.
