A Very Bad Day
Ben Affleck is back in the director’s chair, and his latest movie looks seriously stressful. The first teaser for Animals has dropped, giving us our first look at the upcoming Netflix thriller.
Affleck stars alongside Kerry Washington, Gillian Anderson and Steven Yeun. He plays Los Angeles mayoral candidate Mark Kimball, whose world falls apart when someone kidnaps his son.
Mark and his wife now have just hours to find the ransom money. There’s just one problem. They’ve already spent much of their cash on his political campaign.
Things Get Messy
The teaser gives away very little, but it certainly sets the mood. We see Affleck and Washington scrambling to deal with the kidnapping, while mysterious characters and disturbing images hint at something much bigger.
The trailer keeps the dialogue to a minimum and lets the visuals do most of the talking.
And honestly, that somehow makes the whole thing feel even creepier.
Affleck Is Back
Animals marks Affleck’s return to directing after 2023’s Air. He also co-wrote the film, with longtime collaborator Matt Damon joining him as a producer.
Animals will hit select cinemas and Netflix on October 9, 2026.
And if this teaser is anything to go by, this could be one seriously tense watch.
