A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of South East Queensland this morning as heavy rain lashes the region.
The Bureau of Meteorology says severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours.
Locations which may be affected include Brisbane, Caboolture, Ipswich, Jimboomba, Boonah and Springbrook in the Gold Coast hinterland.
Springbrook has already copped more than 160 millimetres of rain since 9am Wednesday.

Meantime, a more detailed warning has been issued for areas further north, with fears of dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding.
“The Bureau of Meteorology warns that at 6.40am a severe thunderstorm likely to produce heavy, locally intense rainfall that may lead to dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding was detected near Caboolture and Lake Samsonvale,” BOM said.
“This thunderstorm is moving towards the south. It is forecast to affect Strathpine, Lake Manchester and Upper Brookfield by 7:10 am and Ipswich, Peak Crossing and Bundamba Lagoon by 7:40 am”.
143 mm of rainfall has been recorded at Caboolture in just three hours this morning.
