Reality TV star and fitness entrepreneur Sam Wood remains behind bars in Queensland after being charged with domestic violence offences while on holiday in Noosa.
Queensland Police confirmed that officers responded to a Hastings Street address around 9pm on Saturday, subsequently charging a 46-year-old Victorian man with assault occasioning bodily harm and strangulation in a domestic setting.
The case was briefly mentioned in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday, where Wood’s lawyer Matthew Cuskelly declared that his client would be fighting the charges.
“My preliminary instructions are that the charges will be defended,” Cuskelly said.
The identity of the alleged victim remains protected under Queensland law.
The news prompted an immediate response on Monday morning via a joint statement shared to the Instagram pages of both Sam Wood and his wife, Snezana Wood.
“This is a difficult time for all of us, we are working through this as a family and are cooperating with authorities,” the statement read.
