After days of storm action, the Gold Coast is officially trading its umbrellas for sunscreen as a mini heatwave moves in.

The wild weather has cleared out, making way for a weather shift that will see temperatures across the coast skyrocket into the low-to-mid 30s today.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology’s Jonathon How, tomorrow is shaping up to be the peak of the hot spell.

Coastal areas are bracing for sizzling top of 34 to 35 degrees, while inland suburbs could easily climb an extra degree or two higher as scorching winds sweep across Queensland.

“We are expecting temperatures on the coast to be about 34, 35 degrees and possibly one or two degrees warmer inland,” How said.

“We’ve got very hot wind coming through for inland parts of Queensland.

While the heat will be short-lived, the change heading into the weekend won’t bring total relief from the muggy conditions.

Temperatures are expected to ease slightly back down into the high 20s by Friday, but high humidity levels still make it feel quite warm across the city.
