Wildlife crews have made another disturbing find on the Gold Coast.

A native brushturkey was found in Mudgeeraba with an arrow impaled through its body.

The bird was taken to Currumbin Wildlife Hospital, where the medical team desperately tried to save it.

However, the hospital confirmed in a post on social media that sadly the animal passed away from its injuries.

“We believe all wildlife deserve kindness,” Currumbin Wildlife Hospital said alongside a gallery of images of the injured brushturkey.

“This Australian Brushturkey was found alive in Mudgeeraba with an archery arrow through his body 💔”

“Our dedicated vets and vet nurses tried everything to save him. Sadly, his injuries were too severe, and he didn’t survive. 👼

“Every animal, no matter the species, deserves kindness and care. Australian Brush-turkeys are fully protected in Queensland and management of their natural habitat and respect for the species is important for them to survive 💚

“Please, choose compassion, and if you see injured wildlife, call your local wildlife care organisation for help”.

It comes just a month after two turkeys were also found impaled in Mudgeeraba, while a Peacock died after being shot in Tallai earlier this year.
