LATEST @ 7.45 AM | A man has died in a horror crash that shut down all northbound lanes of the Pacific Motorway for close to seven hours.
Emergency crews were called to the northbound lanes of the M1 at Ormeau around 1am on Thursday following reports of a crash between a truck and pedestrian.
A man was treated for life-threatening injuries but sadly could not be revived and was declared deceased at the scene.
A second person, believed to have been the driver of the truck, was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Police say investigations into the nature of the incident are underway, however the death is being treated as non-suspicious.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
All lanes of the M1 have now reopened, however heavy delays are still being experienced.
EARLIER @ 6AM | Grave fears are being held for a pedestrian following a serious crash that’s shut down all northbound lanes of the Pacific Motorway.
Emergency crews were called to the scene in Ormeau around 1am on Thursday following reports of a crash between a truck and pedestrian.
One person, believed to be the driver of the truck, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
A second person, understood to be a male, was assessed with life-threatening injuries.
All northbound traffic is being diverted at the Yatala South exit.
Police are urging motorists to avoid the area or expect delays, with traffic currently at a standstill back to Helensvale.
