EARLIER @ July 22 | A Victorian man has now been charged over an alleged arson attack on a rental car business on the Gold Coast.

Emergency services were called to Queensland luxury car rentals on the corner of Ashmore Road and Bundall Road in Bundall around 6.45am on Friday following reports of a large blaze.

“Police will allege the 41-year-old Donvale man wilfully and unlawfully set fire to a Mercedes-AMG G 63,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

Thankfully no one was injured during the incident, however, the luxury Mercedes and the building were extensively damaged.

Following investigations, the 41-year-old man was tracked down and arrested in Brisbane later that afternoon.

He was charged with arson of a motor vehicle and was due to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on July 20.

A crime scene has been declared and investigations are continuing.

EARLIER @ July 19 | A ferocious fire has broken out at a rental car business on the Gold Coast this morning.

Multiple fire crews were called to Queensland luxury car rentals on the corner of Ashmore Road and Bundall Road in Bundall around 6.45am.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesperson told Hot Tomato a Mercedes Benz inside the building erupted into flames before quickly spreading.

The structure was found “well involved” upon arrival, with crews immediately launching into action to douse the flames.

The blaze has since been brought under control, however, firies remain on scene dampening down hotspots.

Fortunately no one was injured in the incident.

Police have confirmed investigations into the cause of the fire are now underway.

They’re appealing for anyone who may have vision or dascham from around the area at the time to come forward.
