Five international students have been rescued after spending the night lost in the Gold Coast Hinterland.

The group set out for a hike in Springbrook National Park on Sunday afternoon.

However, several hours later, they became lost.

The hikers used a phone to raise the alarm at around 7pm, sparking a major operation.

Crews from Queensland Police, the State Emergency Service and Queensland Ambulance attended the scene.

The group was located in bushland at around 1am before being led out and retrieved just after 4am.

No injuries were reported.
