Aircons and fans are expected to get a good workout across the Gold Coast over the next few days with scorching temperatures set to grip the city.
While an official heatwave warning hasn’t been issued by the weather bureau at this stage, people are being urged to remain mindful as the mercury soars.
A warm top of 34 degrees is expected across the coast today, however inland areas like Nerang and Coomera are expected to feel even hotter.
We will get a slight reprieve from the heat on Friday and Saturday with the mercury forecast to drop slightly to 29C, before things start to ramp up again on Sunday.
The peak will hit right in time for Australia Day on Monday, so anyone with outdoor plans may want to pack some extra sunscreen with a sizzling top of 35C forecast.
The rest of the week will remain relatively warm with temps hanging around the 30s.
We’re being urged to keep a close eye on our most vulnerable as the mercury rises, with the elderly and young children remaining the most at risk.
